My predictions...

Well, I was DEAD ON with my KU/KSU prediction of the score, but Ronald Price is still the coach @ K-State.

What the hell does he have to do to get fired?!?

K-State will lose to MU by 40+, lose to NU at home by 28, then beat ISU in the season finale by 3.

After the Cyclone win Coach Prince will talk of progress and be retained for another year.

0-9 vs. KU, MU and NU.

Who's controlling the program?! I mean for fuck's sake... Stan Parrish was better than Coach Prince AS A COACH. But Prince can talk his way out of this one?!?!

Sunflower Showdown 2008

This one's gonna be ugly kids. No way in hell K-State wins this game.

Reasons why KU wins:

1) Coach Prince

2) KU has lost 2 straight (as has the Cats). They need this one BAD!

3) Game played in Lawrence

4) Defense of K-State is the WORST in the country (not just Big XII... country)

KU: 48

KSU: 21

My hope: Sunday Prince is fired and Dave Brock is the interem head coach. Then after the season is FINALLY over (with only one win against ISU) K-State hires Gary Patterson as the H.C. and turns this bitch around.

Texas Tech at K-State

Tuesday prediction:

Texas Tech: 56
Kansas State: 28

Tech doesn't play all that well on the road, but a trip to Manhattan will cure that. Run Red Raiders, run.

Another prediction: ABC switches from this game before the start of the 4th Quarter to some other game.

9.19.2008

Wow, I was wrong about the Louisville score...

and wrong about the rest of the season.

B4 the Lousiville game, I saw K-State winning 7 games (maybe 8 if they snuck one out somewhere).

Now I see 4 wins.

The two more wins...

1) Louisiana Lafayette
2) Iowa State

And heck, I had a "W" for the Cats last year in Ames and look how well that one went.

9.17.2008

KSU @ Louisville

BIG, HUGE game tonight in Kentucky.

Prediction:

K-State 27
Louisville 17

Boom goes the dynamite!

Predictions Gone Bad

Some of my predictions I made in the last few months.

PREDICTION #1: Arthur Brown will be a Kansas State Wildcat in 2008.

PREDICTION #2: Michael Beasley will remain a Kansas State Wildcat in 2008.

PREDICTION #3: Kansas State football in 2008 will hit yet another low and finish at the bottom of the Big XII North.

We'll have to wait on the last one. Hopefully I am as wrong with that one as I was with the others.

Spring Look At The Cats -- Runningback

The curse of Darren Sproles is still evident.

5'8" - 170 lbs
5'7" - 187 lbs
5'8" - 168 lbs
5'9" - 195 lbs
Yep, that's the size of the runningbacks for K-State in 2008. The biggest of the bunch is WALK ON Keithen Valentine, who was the star of the spring game when he rushed for over 100 yards.

Junior Leon Patton is back and will try to prove himself to be the #1 back. If I had to guess, he'll be sharing the backfield with about 4 other people, including Dee Bell and Justin Woods.

Incoming JUCO transfer Daniel Thomas looks to join the runningback gang. Oh wait, he was a quarterback at Senatobia Northwest Mississippi C.C. At least he's 6'2" + 227 lbs. Now THERE'S K-State's big back!

Who's the only person upset with Jordy & the draft?

Marcus Watts.

If you remember, it was Marcus and Jordy who "switched" positions back in 2004 (I believe) -- Nelson was a d-back, while Watts was to be a wide receiver.

So now Jordy will be making TONS O'MONEY in Green Bay, while Marcus sits in his parents basement with pictures & articles of Jordy pasted all over the walls with the words "INJURED HIP" scribbled all over them.

What is waiting for Michael Beasley in the NBA?

Boring games & highlights on TV. Just plain boring.

This time of the year SUCKS to be a K-State fan. Hell, a college sports fan. In ESPN SportsCenter's 1 hour show, the NBA is on there probably 55% of the time. Of that 55%, about .01% of it is highlights you go "man, that's bad arse!" The rest... pretty much what Ginger Lynn & Seka liked to do in their porn days*.

Thank God for ESPN College Football LIVE still being on!

3-0

A suggestion for Ron Prince and the Wildcat football staff for the 2009 spring game. Go ahead and do what Mizzou and so many other college football teams do with their spring game... come up with a Spring Game Scoring System.

For every first down a team gets, that's 5 points; for every touchdown, that's 25 points; for every INT, that's 10 points. You get the picture.

A 3-0 score looks bad in everyone's eyes (media, fans, POTENTIAL RECRUITS, etc).

I realize Josh Freeman played a limited number of downs, plus 3 potential starters on the O-Line were missing, but seriously... the players can say that the game is no indication of how Spring practices went. I'll go out on a limb in this one... K-State will finish either the 5th slot in the North next year or the 6th (the "Baylor Slot").

4.15.2008

Spring Look At The Cats -- QUARTERBACK

Here's a guarantee for the quarterback position for the Wildcats in 2008... barring injury, a male human being wearing the K-State uniform with the #1 on it will be the starter. Whew! Got that one out of the way.

Just how well Josh Freeman does in 2008 clicks once again on his offensive line (more on the O-Line at a later time). His sophomore year stats were actually pretty impressive -- he completed 63% of his passes for over 3,300 yards with 18 TD's to 11 picks. If he isn't running for his life behind his pourous O-Line, he's a pretty accurate passer. With a new Offensive Coordinator in 2008, perhaps there will be a few more deep throws.

In case Freeman breaks his leg in 4 places during the Louisiana-Lafayette game, sophomore Carson Coffman would step in to take the reigns. Coffman passed for 22 yards in 2007. The back-up to the back-up is redshirt freshman Tysyn Hartman who wears the #2 jersey... so maybe he should be the #2 QB? Sure, why not.

Scary Smart Head Coach Ron Prince recruited two high school quarterbacks -- Collin Klein from Loveland, Colorado and Joseph Kassanavoid from Lawson, Missouri. Both will spend the 2008 season picking their arses on the sideline.

Spring Look At The Cats -- WIDE RECEIVERS

For 2008, here's what the Wildcats lose at the WR position... 122 receptions, 1606 yards, 11 TD, and a sure handed receiver. Jordy, thanks for the contribution last year (heck, for the past three).

Coming back are the following: SR Deon Murphy, SR Ernie Pierce, SO Lamark Brown, and SR Cedric Wilson. Impressive, just plain impressive.

JUCO influx: JR Adrian Hilburn (already on campus), JR Brandon Banks (all 5'8" of him), JR Aubrey Quarles and JR Attrail Snipes.

H.S. additives: NONE (unless a walk on wants to step up a la Jordy).

Keep your eye on JR Matt Wykes. Played at Butler County CC, but more importantly, I met his sister whilst out at the bars in Ames, IA after the Wildcats loss to the (mighty) Cyclones. She said he'll be big in 2008. And when Matt Wykes sister speaks, she speaks the truth.

Like I said in the post below, don't expect too much out of the JUCO guys (at least not until the 2nd to last game or so). That means Deon (I Don't Wanna Go To Class) Murphy has to step up. But wait, he has to miss the Spring practices b.c of academics. YEAH!

Ernie... time to SHINE. At 6'4", he'll be the tallest receiver (with a bunch of 6' and under guys). And Lamark... so much was expected of Lamark before last year. Maybe with a year under his belt as a receiver, he'll get a few more catches. Heck, might be tough to beat that 3 catch mark in 2007.

GRADE: D+

JUCO influence on Cats in 2008

As every Cat football fan knows, Scary Smart Ron Price went out and signed a HUGE number of JUCO transfers for the 2008 season. This quick band aid approach to fix what happened to the 2007 season (let it rest in peace) probably won't work, but I guess we'll wait and see.

When was the last time a JUCO transfer came into K-State and lit the world on fire? Deon Murphy, you can put your hand down.

It might have to be Jeff Kelly back in 1997, or possibly the great Michael Bishop. Although Bishop relied on his athleticsm to get him thru the first part of the season (1997). Even Darnell McDonald didn't jump out until the end of the 1997 season. Heck, Quincy Morgan redshirted.

What I'm getting at is this... there might be ONE player this year from the many that makes a decent immediate impact. Those odds aren't very good. Scary Smart is probably thinking AT LEAST 5 of these players will make an immediate impact.

I remember reading last summer about how great WR Ernie Pierce was going to be. Yeah, real great year there Ernie (6 receptions, 59 yards).

Michael Beasley... Success is in Manhattan

First of all, congratulations to the Kansas Jayhawks for winning the Men's Basketball National Championship. Secondly, that might have been the final element in convincing K-State freshman phenom Michael Beasley to STAY another year at K-State.

Stay with me here.

Kansas State's cross state rival just won the Nat'l title and he was there to witness it. In his mind, there would be MUCH personal satisfaction in winning a title, and of course if he bolts for the NBA, that could NEVER happen. He would never feel that feeling -- not to say that it's a guarantee KSU would win a title, but the odds are a little better if Beasley were on the KSU squad.

So come on Michael... pretty please with Dick Vitale's severed head on top... will you stay?
